Panasonic has now announced its summer/autumn digital camera update plans and among the models prepared are the LUMIX FZ100 and FZ40, two hybrids that make use of the newly developed LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT lens enabling 24x optical zoom.

The new cameras also feature a 14.1-megapixel sensor, the POWER Optical Image Stabilizer, SD/SDHC/SDXC memory card support, can record HD (720p for the FZ40, 1080p for the FZ100) video, and a 3-inch LCD screen. The FZ100's display is 'free-angle' and has a resolution of 460,000 dots, while that on the FZ40 is limited to 230,000 dots.

The LUMIX FZ100 and FZ40 are scheduled to become available in late August and will cost $500 and $400, respectively.
