At this year's uValue convention in Tokyo, Hitachi Global Storage Technologies has (finally) exposed its first solid state drives, ultra-high-performance 2.5-inch models that are specifically designed for the enterprise market.
Going after business customers first, just like rival Seagate, Hitachi will introduce SSDs with SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) and Fibre Channel Arbitrated Loop interfaces that will likely feature SLC (single-level cell) NAND Flash memory chips and go up to 512GB in terms of capacity.
Hitachi's SSDs are set to begin shipping later this year.
