Google offices raided by South Korean police in data collecting probe

As part of an investigation into Google's admitted snooping and gathering of WiFi data, South Korean police has today raided the company's Seoul offices, looking for evidence that information was collected and stored for later potential use.

Google has previously stated that its Street View cars, which are supposed to just take photos and not much else, have indeed gathered data from unencrypted WiFi networks, but mentioned this was dome by mistake. Even so, this illegal snooping has sparked several probes around the world, the one in South Korea being one of the latest.

The Korean raid was done by 19 agents and saw multiple hard drives and documents being confiscated in order to be analyzed. Google execs are expected to be questioned too, as the investigation moves forward.
